Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton Release Duet Version of 'Please Please Please'
Sabrina Carpenter and country music legend Dolly Parton have teamed up for a duet version of Carpenter’s hit song “Please Please Please,” released as part of the deluxe edition of her album Short n’ Sweet on Valentine’s Day. The collaboration features a country twist on the original pop track and a new music video that includes a subtle nod to Carpenter’s ex-boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan.
In the original “Please Please Please” music video, Keoghan starred alongside Carpenter, portraying a tumultuous relationship that ended with Carpenter handcuffing and duct-taping him before leaving him in an empty warehouse. The new duet video continues the storyline, with Carpenter and Parton driving a pickup truck while singing the song. The camera pans to reveal a man tied up in the truck bed, wearing the same outfit Keoghan wore in the original video—a white tank top and black slacks—with a sack over his head. The video concludes with Carpenter shaking her head as the man attempts to scream and bang on the truck.
The duet also includes a lyric change, with Carpenter and Parton singing, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, like the others,” replacing the original explicit line. The video, filmed in Nashville, has sparked speculation about Carpenter’s feelings toward her breakup with Keoghan, though she has remained private about the split. Keoghan, meanwhile, has faced backlash from Carpenter’s fans, prompting him to address the online vitriol in a December 2024 social media post.
Carpenter expressed her excitement about working with Parton, calling it an honor to collaborate with one of her idols. Parton, in turn, playfully teased Carpenter about her “dirty words” in the original song. The deluxe edition of Short n’ Sweet also includes four additional tracks, further cementing Carpenter’s rising star in the music industry.
