The 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend kicked off with the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday, Feb. 14, at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Team Chris, led by coach Chris Mullin, emerged victorious in the mini-tournament, securing their spot in the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. The team, featuring standout performances from Stephon Castle, Zach Edey, Keyonte George, and Dalton Knecht, defeated Team G League 25-14 in the championship game. Castle, a rising star from the Spurs, was named MVP for his all-around contributions.

The Rising Stars Challenge featured a four-team format, with Team Chris advancing after a 40-34 win over Team Tim in the semifinals. Keyonte George and Dalton Knecht were instrumental in the semifinal victory, combining for 15 points. In the championship game, George sealed the win with a cold transition 3-pointer, sending Team Chris to the All-Star Game mini-tournament, where they will face Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Shaq’s OGs.

The event showcased the league’s young talent, with fast-paced action and low target scores keeping the games intense and competitive. Team G League also made a strong showing, narrowly defeating Team Mitch 40-39 in the semifinals, thanks to a game-winning 3-pointer from Bryce McGowens. Leonard Miller led Team G League with 14 points in the semifinal.

The Rising Stars Challenge set the stage for a thrilling All-Star Weekend, with Team Chris now poised to take on the NBA’s elite in Sunday’s marquee event.
