Global Slack Outage Disrupts Workplace Communication

Workplace messaging platform Slack experienced a widespread outage on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, leaving thousands of users unable to access the service. The issues began around 10:27 a.m. EST, with reports peaking at approximately 3,100 users by 11:40 a.m. EST, according to Downdetector, a platform that tracks outages. By 3 p.m. EST, the number of reported issues had dropped significantly to 439, though some users continued to face problems.

Slack’s status dashboard indicated that users encountered difficulties with logging in, messaging, workflows, threads, and API-related features. However, notifications, search, files, huddles, and workspace administration remained unaffected. The company acknowledged the outage and stated that its teams were investigating the cause. By 3:34 p.m. EST, Slack identified the root issue but noted that functionality had not yet been fully restored for all users.

The outage disrupted communication for many businesses and organizations globally, as Slack is a widely used platform with over 200,000 paid customers and daily active users in more than 150 countries. Owned by Salesforce, Slack has become a critical tool for workplace collaboration since its launch in 2013.

As of the latest updates, Slack’s teams were working to resolve the issue and restore full functionality. Users were advised to monitor Slack’s status page for further updates. The cause of the outage remains unclear, but the company has assured users that efforts are underway to address the problem promptly.
