Slack Outage Disrupts Workplace Communication Across the Globe

Slack, the widely used workplace messaging platform, experienced a significant outage on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, leaving thousands of users unable to access key features. The issues began around 10:27 a.m. EST, with Slack’s tech dashboard reporting problems with users connecting or loading the platform. At its peak, more than 3,000 users reported issues, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages.

By mid-afternoon, the number of reported issues had dropped significantly, with only 439 users reporting problems around 3 p.m. EST. However, Slack confirmed that the issue was not fully resolved, stating at 3:34 p.m. EST that it had identified the cause but some users might still experience disruptions. Affected features included workflows, threads, sending messages, and API-related functionalities, while notifications, search, files, and other services remained operational.

Slack, owned by Salesforce, is a critical tool for over 200,000 paid customers across 150 countries. The outage disrupted communication for many organizations, though the company assured users that updates would be provided as the situation progressed. The cause of the outage was not immediately disclosed.
