Zendaya Joins the Cast of Shrek 5 as Shrek and Fiona's Daughter

Zendaya has officially joined the cast of Shrek 5, set to voice the daughter of Shrek (Mike Myers) and Fiona (Cameron Diaz). The announcement was made alongside a teaser clip that debuted new looks for the iconic characters, including Zendaya’s role as the ogre couple’s child. Eddie Murphy will also reprise his role as Donkey in the upcoming film, which is slated for release on December 23, 2026. This marks the first mainline Shrek movie since 2010’s Shrek Forever After.

The teaser, shared by Universal Pictures, features Donkey asking the magic mirror who the “fairest of them all” is, with Shrek, Fiona, and their daughter observing. Pinocchio also makes a brief appearance, telling a lie that causes his nose to grow. The film is directed by franchise veterans Walt Dohrn and Brad Ableson, with Gina Shay and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri producing.

The Shrek franchise, which began in 2001, has grossed over $2.9 billion globally and includes four main films and two Puss in Boots spinoffs. Zendaya’s involvement is expected to bring fresh energy to the beloved series, potentially attracting new audiences. The actress, known for her roles in Euphoria and Dune, has a busy schedule ahead, including projects with Christopher Nolan and the fourth Spider-Man film.
